Coffee Pot and Mug in one

This idea was introduced to me by Andy on Geodesic, an Endeavor 37 out of Apollo Beach, Florida. It’s an easy way to make each person aboard a custom cup of coffee. It’s a French Press that is also a coffee mug. You make the coffee in this mug, press it, then drink from it.

This allows those who drink it strong to make it that way, and same for those of us that prefer weaker coffee. You put a spoonful of coffee grounds in the mug, pour in hot water, stir, wait 4 minutes, then push the plunger down. Just like you’d use any French Press.

But then this well insulated press becomes your coffee cup too. It has a pop open seal, and it keeps the coffee hot for long time. You can also use it for making hot tea.

The brand that Andy showed me and that I now use is by BODUM. I found it on Amazon for about $13. There are also some nice Stainless Steel models.
