Snorkeling Rash Guard
Get a “SKIN” for snorkeling
This gadget is for those of you that might do some snorkeling in the Tropics, or places where there are jellyfish like the Great Barrier Reef, or the Chesapeake Bay. It’s called a SKIN or a rash guard. It is a nylon or lycra jumpsuit of sorts. It is stretchy, lightweight, and can be packed down to the size of a coke can. It is comfortable to wear and dries quickly.
It is not a wet suit. Its purpose is not to keep you warm like a wet suit. Divers use a SKIN underneath their wetsuits as a base layer. It makes it much easier to get a wet suit on and off. The nylon material makes a slippery surface for the neoprene wetsuit so it slips off easily. Otherwise, it can be a real wrestling match.
We wear a skin to protect us from contacting coral, jelly fish, and to protect us from the sun. As you know, some coral, like fire coral, can be painful to the touch. A SKIN is a chafe or rash guard and sunscreen all in one.
They are inexpensive and easy to care for. Buy a long sleeve full body neck to toe not just a shirt. Order the next size up because they are made in China, and their XL is more like our medium size. I usually wear medium shirts, and I order an XXL. The cost is about $35.
You are going to want one of these! Oh yea, the lobster too.
Nice bug… and great tip about the SKIN.
