Cockpit Tote
My friends on POLAKO, Scott and Shelly, use a tool tote in their cockpit to corral all the miscellaneous gear that is often laying about the cockpit. This tote has side pockets that are ideal for a cell phone or glasses. In it they keep a knife, an airhorn, a spotlight, binoculars, clothespins, sunscreen, and a half dozen other things. All are in one place and easy to reach.
It’s heavy enough that it stays put when the boat is heeled over. It’s made from strong durable canvas so it can get wet without damage. At night it is easy to grab the tote and move it below.
These are not hard to find at a hardware store like Harbor Freight or Lowe’s. The one shown here is called the Voyager and can be found at Harbor Freight . It’s 12″ long with 18 pockets. The cost is $12.99 (as of Jan. ’22).
Great idea. I use one at home 🏡 and it’s the perfect tool kit. Be sure to keep a Sharpie pen, Leatherman, small piece of sandpaper, rag, a few zip ties, flashlight, phone charging cable, a few Band-Aids in a zip lock bag.
